Relay   Testing

Relays ensure the protection & safety of an electrical system and provide users with vital diagnostic information. Relays work by detection of faults and then tripping of Circuit Breakers (CB’s) to prevent damage.
Connect the multimeter leads to terminals 85 and 86, which are the coil terminals.
Locate the relay you wish to test. Relays could be located in the fuse box in the engine compartment or in the interior of your vehicle: The three most commonly used types are electromechanical relays (EMR), solid-state relays (SSR), and Reed relays.
